All patients’ first visit with Dr. Crawford is always complimentary. A complimentary panoramic radiograph is also taken and reviewed at the first visit. At Dr. Crawford’s office digital radiography is utilized so there is very little exposure to radiation. Dr. Crawford will do a limited examination and listen to your concerns and treatment goals. This clinical visit in combination with the panoramic view of the teeth and jaw is very helpful with identifying particularly challenging situations like missing teeth, impacted teeth and other anomalies of the teeth and supporting jaw structure.
At the end of your first visit Dr. Crawford will usually be able to inform you of all the treatment options she sees for you. In some situations there are many variables to consider and additional information is needed before the best course of treatment can be identified. In order for the patient, or parent, whichever the case may be, to be able to make an informed choice about the treatment approach, it is often necessary to gather information from study models, photographs of the teeth and face, and other radiographic images to fully inform you of your options. With each treatment option presented, estimated treatment costs and treatment time will be provided. Consultation With the busy lifestyles of many of our patient families the detailed information given at the first visit is adequate for them to feel comfortable moving forward without an additional consultation. In some complex cases or in cases where children are being treated, Dr. Crawford will request a second, more detailed consultation to review the treatment options, make a final decision on the treatment plan and review the financial options and obligations. In some situations, especially when there is more than one responsible party involved a consultation appointment s helpful in all parties feeling fully informed. Regular Appointments The appointment when you get your appliances placed or delivered (braces, Invisalign aligners, expanders, etc.) usually takes from 1½ to 2 hours. If traditional braces are being planed for the top and bottom teeth, Dr. Crawford will usually place the braces on one jaw at on the first appointment and then place the braces on the other jaw at the second or third visit. Following the placement or delivery of your appliances, you'll then see us at regular intervals, usually 6 to 10 weeks apart, for an adjustment visit, which takes 30 to 60 minutes. Our regular office hours are Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5 PM and patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately and try to give us at least 24 hours notice. This will allow us the opportunity to schedule someone else in that time from our list of patients waiting for appointments. Cancel only if it is an emergency because it is difficult to reschedule an appointment when most patients scheduled appointments are made 6 to 10 weeks in advance. It is also critically important that you make your next appointment before you leave our office from your current appointment again because all patients are seen on a specified return interval to optimize their treatment plan. If you leave the office without scheduling your next appointment and then expect to be able to call and schedule something with little or no advance notice to our office, we will always do our best but this request can often be difficult to accommodate. Payment & Office Policies Cost of Treatment & Fee Payment Options The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have no-interest payment plans through our office that can be set up with bank draft or credit card drafts, or we can provide you with information about an outside financing plan if it is better for your personal situation. We also accept assignment from the premier division of Delta Dental insurance plan. For all other insurance companies we will be happy to fill out traditional American Dental Association claim forms and mail them to you for you to forward to your insurance company. Copies of your accounting ledgers are also available upon request for submission to your flexible spending and medical savings plans. My staff and I work hard to make orthodontics affordable. In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:
